I’d love to see more housing options for New Rochelle. Instead of scads of expensive cookie cutter apartments, let’s think a little more creatively. If we’re really creating a new, better, more walkable downtown, people at all income levels and life stages should want to live there, so how about both bigger and smaller units? Apartments and lofts with bigger rooms and some meaningful outdoor space for people downsizing from a house? Or townhouses within walking distance of Main Street? Just as important, we need real affordable housing and not just a few token units if we want to maintain the diversity that makes New Rochelle so unique.  So what I’m suggesting is a variety of options at both the upper and lower price points. Right now there is surprisingly little to choose from, if you're not looking for a house.
