New Rochelle was once known as a community that housed an unprecedented number of prominent American illustrators and artist, I think New Rochelle could position itself to become, once again, the artist-friendly community it once was. I would love to see a multi-use venue that has ground floor exhibition/gallery/event space (indoor and/or outdoor), coupled with affordable artist workspaces/ studios/ workshops. We don't need to go to far to see an example of this type of venue, White Plains has the Arts Westchester Arts Exchange building were they repurposed a old Chase bank to create a gallery and artist studio space. New Rochelle has plenty of beautiful buildings in the downtown area that have the potential to be repurposed into this type of venue.
